Dear Readers,

After putting some research into the provenance of
this article, I find too many questions about its origin, and have been
unable to uncover anything that supports its authenticity.  Neither
have Snopes.com, who list it as “Undetermined.”  That is not good
enough for someone who, while not my kind of guy, has served this
country faithfully for many years.

Although I remain a staunch
supporter of Senators Obama and Biden and find the possibility of
Senator McCain and Governor Palin getting into the White House to be
absolutely chilling, I must, nonetheless, apologize to the senator, his
supporters and to you for having posted it without checking more
carefully.  This is precisely the kind of character assassination we
have come to expect from the “other side,” and I regret having been an
unwitting party to it.

Trusting Governor Palin

I can see no good reason why Sarah Palin’s religious upbringing should clash with her performance as vice president.  Many previous candidates have been elected and served without their personal beliefs becoming an issue.  The question, then and now, was whether or not the office-holders would permit their personal issues to affect their adherence to the oath of office.

The presidency is different from any other job in the Federal government, in that there are few real checks and balances regarding matters such as these.  Continue reading
