The Land of Wolves

Elena’s Motorcyle Ride through Chernobyl

Nuclear Dolly

Nuclear Dolly

Elena’s father is a nuclear scientist, and so she is able to get permission to travel in what she calls The Land of Wolves. Her avocation seems to be the recording of the disastrous results of the USSR’s various follies. This entire site, along with her other sites, deserves serious attention and prolonged contemplation.

RECOVERY
DAWNS FOR HUMPBACKS AND SOUTHERN RIGHT WHALES

GLAND, Switzerland, August 14, 2008
(ENS)
– The humpback whale and other species of large whales are now
more secure against extinction than they have been in the recent past,
according to the latest cetacean update of the 2008 Red List of Threatened
Species released on Tuesday by the International Union for the
Conservation of Nature. But while some large whales are doing better, most
small coastal and freshwater cetaceans are moving closer to the brink.

Why Biofuels Are A Scam That Will Ultimately Sink US

Dwindling foreign oil, rising prices at the gas pump and hype from politically well-connected U.S. agribusiness have combined to create a frenzied rush to convert food grains into ethanol fuel. The move is badly conceived and ill advised. Corporate spin and pork barrel legislation aside, here, by the numbers, are the scientific reasons why corn won’t provide our energy needs: STLtoday – Corn can’t save us

The administration and their friends have been leading us down the biofuel path for reasons that have nothing to do with energy independence. It’s time for Americans (and the rest of the world) to wake up and smell the Kool-Aid.

US To Remain In Iraq, Support Puppet Government

The U.S.-Iraq agreement will replace the present U.N. mandate regulating the presence of the U.S.-led forces in Iraq. Al-Maliki said the agreement provides for U.S. support for the “democratic regime in Iraq against domestic and external dangers.”
