In April, 1989, Chinese students gathered in Tiananmen Square in Beijing to demand government reform. The government responded by sending troops and tanks into the crowd, killing thousands (or hundreds) of students. More here…

    – The Chinese government released official casualty figure of 241.

    – Declassified NSA document shows US intelligence estimated casualty of 180-500.
