Wetlands Act Renewed
WASHINGTON, DC, September 13, 2006 (ENS) – The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday approved legislation to reauthorize the North American Wetlands Conservation Act. The bill, which was passed by lawmakers without debate, authorizes $375 million to fund wetlands conservation programs over the next five years.
First enacted in 1989, the law is considered by many to be one of the nation’s most popular and effective conservation programs.
Of course, the EPA still has to interpret and enforce them.
